The Hon’ble Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, today released the ₹50 commemorative coin to mark the Golden Jubilee of the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) on October 15, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The port, often referred to as the Maritime Gateway of Karnataka, has played a pivotal role in India’s maritime trade and coastal development over the past five decades.
The event was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya; Shri R. Lakshmanan, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways; and several senior officials from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and the New Mangalore Port Authority.
The Ministry of Finance had issued a gazette notification on April 22, 2025, officially confirming the issuance of this coin.
This release marks the 24th commemorative coin for the year 2025, minted by the India Government Mint, Kolkata. The bookings for the Proof and UNC sets are expected to open soon on the India Government Mint’s website and will be updated under the current and upcoming bookings section.
