The Government of India will issue a ₹550 commemorative coin to mark the 550th Year Celebration of Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math. The Ministry of Finance issued a gazette notification on November 26, 2025, confirming this coin.
Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math, located in Partagali, South Goa, is one of the oldest and most revered spiritual institutions of the Gaud Saraswat Brahmin community. Established in the 15th century, it follows the Dvaita Vedanta philosophy of Jagadguru Sri Madhvacharya and serves as a guiding light for devotees across generations. The Math has played a vital role in preserving faith, culture, and tradition while promoting education, spiritual learning, and community welfare. Under the leadership of His Holiness Shrimad Vidyadheesh Teerth Swamiji, the Math continues its centuries-old mission of nurturing devotion and upholding the values of Dharma.
The metal composition of the ₹550 coin will consist of a Quaternary Alloy, comprising 50% Silver, 40% Copper, 5% Nickel, and 5% Zinc. The coin will weigh 35 grams and have a diameter of 44 mm, featuring 200 serrations along the edge. The coin’s description is as follows.
Obverse: The face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capitol of Ashoka Pillar in the center with the legend “सत्यमेव जयते” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devanagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It shall also bear the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “550” in the international numerals below the Lion Capitol.
Reverse: This face of the coin shall bear the emblem of 550th Year Celebration of Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math in the center of the coin. The title “SHREE SAMSTHAN GOKARN PARTAGALI JEEVOTTAM MATH” in English shall be inscribed below the emblem. The emblem shall consist of the following elements — a semicircular background symbolising the rising sun, 24 Namas in the inner side of semicircular periphery, elevation of Partagali Math with Dharma Danda, 550 Years above the image of the math, the image of Flying Hanuman Ji with the image of Chakra on the left side and the image of Shankha on the right side. The inscription “सार्ध पश्चशतमानोत्सवः” shall be written in Devanagari script on the upper periphery of the coin and the inscription “Sardha Panchashatamanotsav” shall be depicted in English on the lower periphery of the coin. The year ‘1475’ in international numerals shall be inscribed on the left side of the image and the year ‘2025’ in international numerals shall be inscribed on the right side of the image.
This will be the second time a commemorative coin is being issued in the denomination of ₹550. The earlier one was released in 2019 to mark the 550th Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The possibility and upcoming coins page have been updated for your reference.
